What changes would you like to see in health care?

  I would like to see a public option and I would like to see a whole network of community clinics established nationwide.

  They should be attacking the cost of medical care and it starts off with tort reform. Standardizing of data processing and availability of information. Then after that there has to be a change in the greed of hospital administrators. Next is reform and standardization of medical programs and competiveness of the insurance industry.

  I’d like to see some competition in the Medicare D drug program. Make Medicare reimbursements to the hospitals uniform across the country.

What is the biggest surprise you ever had?

  When I was told I had to have eye surgery and that I had a 10% chance of keeping my vision.

  I still remember. It was back in 1965. I picked up my sister at Logan Airport and driving home and coming up the hill at Pownal about 2:30 in the morning, a deer came off the cliff and into the windshield and totaled the car. Nobody was hurt.
